Sergey, you can use LVM with Shark - indeed, if you want to overcome the ESCON throughput limitations striping over multiple volumes is an appropriate way doing so. Similar if 3390 Mod 9 capacity is not sufficient for you - defining a volume group is a way to get to larger file systems.
