I am still trying to install REDHAT 7.2 in an s390 partition. I was getting
the message
building bootmap: > /boot/bootmap adding Kernel Image:
/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.9-17-tape located at > 0x00010000 Error: could not
retrieve info for target /boot/vmlinuz > 2.4.9-17-tape.
I tried updating the zipl.conf file and changed the 2.4.9-17-tape to
2.4.9-17tape and rerun zipl. I ipled from the dasd and successfully brought
up RedHat Linux, however, I could not telnet to it or ping it. I could only
get to it through the s390 HMC. I decided maybe it was because my zipl.conf
file only contained parameters="root=/dev/dasda1 dasd=2218,2118" so I
changed it again to include chandev=noauto;lcs0,0x1E04,0x1E05,0,2 as well. I
ran zipl again and I ipled again and RedHat Linux came up successfully, but
I kept getting an invalid password. So this time I could not log on from
the HMC console nor could I ping or telnet to it. It may be that the parms
are incorrect, but I am having difficulty know what values to enter for
them.
Any ideas why the telnet does not work would be helpful, or where I can find
exactly what the parameters mean and how to enter them in the zipl.conf file
would be helpful
