Chris,

Long time no see! Hope things are going well for you otherwise.

The problem you describe sounds like a classic MTU-mismatch problem. I and
quite a few other people have seen symptoms like this. Things _seem_ to
work, but as soon as a larger amount of data gets sent to your terminal, the
hang occurs. Check that the MTU for your network device matches that of the
rest of your network.

Subject: RedHat on MP3000 rhsetup problem

Hello all. I have been experimenting with a Multiprise 3000 and I have run
into a problem with RedHat 7.2 (rawhide and regular versions). I have
IPLed from HMC CD-ROM, gotten through the network setup, formatted and
partitioned my dasd and logged in through putty. At this point, I run
rhsetup and it seems to "hang". 0% CPU is taken and I can log in again and
kill the process. This is an MP3000, dasd 394-397. Nothing happens after
the /dev/dasdd line, here's what it looks like:

login as: root
Sent username "root"
# rhsetup
Found DASD devices /dev/dasda
/dev/dasdb
/dev/dasdc
/dev/dasdd

Additional info:

Output from /proc/dasd/devices:
