No problem Neale.  I agree with your assessment and have not let the
local IBM rep off the hook for this one.  He (and others) know why the
server is wanted and do not understand why Tivoli can't (won't) make a
business case for this platform.  I have offered my mini-business case.
IBM is now publicly supporting a z/VM with linux solution to the world.
Pre-installed on each of these z/VM systems is a copy of the TSM
server.  Over the past 12 months IBM has publicly stated that a number
of z900's/800's have been purchased with z/VM where no mainframe existed
before (just as important where no z/VM existed before).   You know have
an operating system with backup solution on your floor.  Now just to get
support........Oh well there goes that solution!


BUT back to my original question.  Does anyone have experience with TSM
client, ReiserFS and/or LVM on linux/390 (or linux/intel for that
matter).
