Our linux LPAR may be moving from a G5 to a zSeries box, and I'm full of
questions about going to a 64-bit s390 linux distribution. Currently
running RH 7.2 in a test S/390 lpar. Any "important" data is pretty
well isolated, easy to tar, so starting fresh with a new install isn't
unreasonable. I'm still a toddler when it comes to linux, and might as
well be a fetus when it comes to S/390 :). Some of these are probably
elementary-level questions, off-list responses might be more appropriate.

Will the 31-bit linux LPAR IPL and still work fine on the 64-bit zSeries
hardware?

linuxvm.org says ThinkBlue is still the only GA 64-bit distribution?

    * Anyone know if it's maintained regularly? It says it's based on
RH 7.1... similar enough that srpms from updates.redhat.com are fine?
    * Is anyone here using redhat's s390x rawhide? Looks like the last
modifications were some rpms at the end of May.

Will the 31-bit executable binaries run in a 64-bit linux environments?
 Will 31-bit s390 rpm's install and work in a 64-bit linux?

    * IBM's Java2 SDK looks to be all 31-bit
      (http://www6.software.ibm.com/dl/dklx130/dklx130-p). Does anyone
know what Java SDK's are available for 64-bit?

Thank you very much,
Daniel
