All supported levels of VM/ESA and z/VM can use the HMC console as the operator's console. But keep in mind that some stand-alone utils like DDR require a 3270. If you operate via the HMC, be sure you have a 3174, 2074, or equiv. available to provide local 3270 access in an emergency. Alan Altmark Sr. Software Engineer IBM z/VM Development
