The facility within VM/ESA and z/VM for directing console traffic to an
alternate user is called SCIF. This alternate user can be specified on the
CONSOLE statement for the linux server virtual machines to be monitored. It
can also be set dynamically via the CP SET SECUSER command. There are three
programs that I have used to consolidate and monitor server consoles.

PROP - comes with VM/ESA & z/VM
PIPESRV - from IBM VM Downloads website
VM:Operator - currently available from CA

They have different levels of functionality and complexity and the third
costs money.

Subject: Monitoring console output messages from Linux virtual machines

Hi all.
We will soon have our first MP3000 installed in our office.
Are there any VM tools that enable us to receive console output messages
from multiple Linux virtual machines on the console of another virtual
machine?

I would like to have a single point of control for the consoles of several
Linux virtual machines.

Thanks in advance.
