Hello all,

We have been working on a number of interesting threads throughout the
organization with Linux. One of the hardest to get a handle on is
authentication, home directory definition, Uid etc.

We have an established NIS world directory structure but we are in the
process of moving portions to LDAP/Active Directory(AD).(Please no
attacks these decisions are well outside my area of control). We have
attempted to use the Samba WINDBIND package to provide domain
authentication. There is an issue with the local implementation issue
with domain trust relationships but when bypassing that issue for now it
seems to work. The question is how do we integrate the NIS information
into the mix? We are planning to move some NFS servers to LinZ, the
current permissions are in NIS. I am trying to find if any one has been
able to integrate NIS and AD?

The hardest part is the co-existence between the 2.

regards
Phil
