Guys, I was hoping someone will say it but if I remember correctly for you
to run Linux on a G2, you must have a certain Micro Code Level because of a
missing instruction (set? don't remember if it is one or more). I need to
dig around to find the right level. Carlos :-)

Neil:
Linux will run on a G2, but performance may be poor due to lack
of IEEE floating point (and it is not supported).
VIF has nothing to do with this, and besides VIF is very much a dead
product (withdrawn from marketing). z/VM V4 is the solution for multiple
Linux images on S/390 and zSeries and requires G5 or later.
