I have been trying to install TurboLinux 6.5 on our 9762-R35 (G4) box with
no success.
I made the IPL tape using the free distribution following the
documentation to the letter.
I wrote the 3 datasets LINUX390.IMAGE.TXT, LINUX390.PARM.LINE and
LINUX390.INITRD.TXT to a 3480 cartridge using IEBGENR using three steps in
that JCL, (each step writing the three datasets to tape).
As far as I can tell I have done all of this correctly. I am thinking I
might have a corrupted copy, however I
do not get any disabled wait PSW or anything when I attempt to IPL the
tape, the window message says "IPL COMPLETE". There is no error message
generated to the HW console. I know this is not a case of the drive not
being configured to the LPAR, I have been there already (thanks). I used
another IPL'able tape to test the LPAR and that worked fine. The message
at the top of the OS messages window was, "Hardware Interface Not
Available" . I have been considering another distribution. If anyone
else had this experience with TurboLinux please let me know how you
managed to get around it.
