Hmm. If he had zipl, he would be running a 2.4 system, which would mean he would be able to add the volume dynamically, and _not_ have to reboot the system. If anyone out there is running 2.4, and booting your system to add new DASD volumes, you're taking an unnecessary outage to do so.
