Lionel, There is a tool distributed with Samba that will produce an smb.conf that replicates the shares on an NT server. I\'m not sure if this covers permission settings, though. Depending on the complexity of the security setup on the Windows side, the NTFS ACLs used for file permission may not map well to Linux file permissions. However, hit the archives for this list as I\'m sure that ACL support has been discussed. There are kernel and filesystem patches available that will implement ACL support on Linux, and Samba 2.2 provides ACL support. With these, your migration task will simply be to copy the files from the Windows machine to the Samba machine. Can anyone comment on whether the ACL patches will make it into commercial distributions any time soon? Cheers, Vic -- Vic Cross MACS mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Networking, Linux, on zSeries and S/390
