Depending upon how heavily used the OS/390 side is, you may have performance problems with this workload. On the other hand, if you are able to add an IFL this could be a very successful venture.
I have a customer that is comfortably running 3 WAS (including the HTTP Server) and 2 DB2's under z/VM Version 4 on a G5. But, they are not yet very heavily loaded. The production WAS is 512MB with 64MB Swap, the other two are 384 MB with 64MB Swap. The DB2s are 96MB, with 32MB Swap. All of the swap is on vdisk.
