As always it depends. If you have a fairly large LVM logical volume not striped, then the data you write for a file will typically be in a single physical device. So a single subchannel. If you spread your writes over multiple volumes more blocks can flow. Whether you like to cap the I/O of your Linux machine is another matter. Rob
