Sue,

At the top of the script (assuming it's a bash script, which most of them
are), you can put a
set -x
command.

By the way, if you're still running a 2.2.16 kernel on your SuSE system, you
might want to consider upgrading to SuSE 7.2. Or, at least make sure you
have the latest and greatest versions of the qdio and qeth modules, if you
haven't done so already.

Subject: Shutdown problem

We have recently changed to an OSA Gigabit card on our systems, and I'm
having problems with the Suse 7.0 system. It won't shutdown cleanly, it
seems to stop shortly before the last "power down" message; the disk does
not appear to be dismounted, because the system prints a message to that
effect during boot, and always does a fsck. If qdio & qeth don't get loaded
properly during re-boot, then the system will shut down cleanly. It also
looks like the network adaptor is not being released during shutdown. I have
seen several reports of shutdown problems after changing to OSA adaptors
here on the list. I'd like to know if anyone who has experienced shutdown
problems has ever found a way around the problem or anything that helps.
Does anyone know if there's a way to print the shutdown scripts as they're
executing so I can see exactly where the system is locking up?

Sue
