> How many guest lans and subnets would be used in this scenario? Two small subnets (/27 or /28 or so) and two guest LANs (8-16 addresses should be sufficient), unless you want to do something fancy with firewalls.
> Do the CTC's require separate subnets? No, because the Linux systems can proxy ARP for them. > How does traffic get routed to the OS/390 2.9 image via the > Linux router? > Is this just a static route in the Zebra setup? You can do it via a static route in your network routers, or by announcing the route resulting from connecting the interface to the Linux guest via a routing protocol running on the Linux guests. I would recommend the second solution, but your network guys will need to accept routing updates from the Linux systems. Get them to give you an OSPF area number and use the Linux guests as DRs for the OSPF area. This also lets you mess around with dynamic VIPA, etc as the OSPF processes on your z/OS and OS/390 systems talk to the OSPF processes on the Linux guests and get summarized before they flow out into the real net. > ps can anyone recommend a good book on linux & routing ??
