Probably you should be using something from here:
[summer@numbat summer]$ ls /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/b* -d
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root           31 Jul 11 10:04 /lib/modules/2.4.18-5/build ->
../../../usr/src/linux-2.4.18-5
