We have been doing some testing with Oracle 9i developers edition on
Linux/390, our test consists of running Oracle as a client on a virtual
Linux server, this client makes calls to an Oracle Database on a separate
HP server. We are using Apache as the Webserver we have noticed that each
Apache spawn uses 8meg and our Linux server is 128 meg on a G5 IFL with 1/2
gig of real. As you might image once we get to about 30 concurrent users we
see terrible performance on the IFL. We are wondering if this is the normal
storage needs of each Apache and if it is how can we possibly run this
environment with out throwing tons of storage at it. The last thing I need
to tell people interested in moving over to Oracle or Apache on Linux/390
is they need to purchase mainframe storage.

Any Ideas
