The complete agenda for the IBM 2002 z/VM, VSE and Linux on zSeries
Technical Conference (October 7-10 in Miami Beach) is now available
online at:
http://ibm.com/training/conf/us/vmvse/

This 3.5 day conference provides a unique educational opportunity for
those getting started with Linux on zSeries and those who already have
some experience. There are sessions for those who may be familiar with
mainframe operating systems but need to learn Linux, and sessions for
those who know Linux, but need to learn something about z/VM and
Linux on zSeries. And since the z/OS Conference is being held at the
same time, in the same hotel, attendees will be able to attend some
of those sessions as well.

For those that are new to the Linux on zSeries environment, we also
have two hands-on labs: Linux 101 and Linux S/390 Installation.
Linux 101 is intended for those who are new to Linux and need an
introduction to the commands, file system, etc. The installation lab
gives the attendees the opportunity to actually install Linux (Marist,
Red Hat or SuSe) in a virtual machine using z/VM.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn from many members of the Linux
community. Conference speakers from IBM include members of the Linux
development organization in Boeblingen, z/VM development in Endicott
and the Washington Systems Center in Gaithersburg. We also have some
other outstanding speakers, including Mark Post (EDS), Neale
Ferguson (Software AG), David Boyes (Sine Nomine), Scott Cortney
(Sine Nomine), Alex DeVries (Linuxcare), Phil Smith (Linuxcare),
Barton Robinson (Velocity Software), and of course, Jim Elliott (IBM).

If you are coming down to Miami Beach for the conference, you want to
lower your air fare by coming in early and taking advantage of one of
or pre-conference classes on Sunday, October 6:

ZV059 - Linux in the z/VM Environment - An Introduction
HLX13 - Linux Basics - A S/390 Perspective

If you are interested in attending, you may find some great air fares
to Miami right now, and there are some inexpensive hotels very close
to the conference hotel (the Fontainebleau Hilton), so make your plans
quickly. The URL at the beginning of this note has all the details,
but if you need more information, feel free to contact me offline.

I hope to see many of you in Miami Beach,

Chuck Morse
