I am attempting to install SLES7 in another instance. This time I want to
use LVM and create a volume group that contains /usr and /home. I am
following the procedure in the Redbook - Linux on zSeries and S/390: Systems
Management (SG24-6820) in section 3.2.2. I start the bootstrap program and
login through Putty. I install the dasd modules using the "insmod dasd
dasd=200,201" command, I format the dasd using the following command:
                 "dasdfmt -b 4096 -l lnx200 -d cdl -f /dev/dasda"

I create two partitions on /dev/dasda using "fdasd /dev/dasda". One
partition goes from track 2-5000 and the other from 5001-30044. I start
YAST, when I get to the filesystem section I create a volume group called
"lnxrtvg" and add /dev/dasda2 to the volume group. I next create two logical
volumes, /dev/lnxrtvg/usrlv and /dev/lnxrtvg/homelv. I set the mount points
and filesystem type in the "Creating Filesystems" screen to:
                /dev/dasda1 ext2 /
                /dev/lnxrtvg/usrlv ext2 /usr
                /dev/lnxrtvg/homelv ext2 /home

I hit F10 to exit out of LVM. When YAST tries to mount the filesystems I
get the following mount error :
An error occurred mounting the file system of partition
"/dev/dasda1"to the directory "/mnt:. Here is the error message of the
'mount' command:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock ob
/dev/dasda1, or too many mounted file systems.
I get the same error for the remaining two filesystems.

I next opened another putty window and ran the command and got the same
error.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you..
