Did you update the dasd= field in the parameter section of /etc/zipl.conf and the run zipl? You can also: echo "add device range=<cuu>" >>/proc/dasd/devices
Check the Linux/390 Device Drivers manual in the documentation section of the developer works site: "http://www10.software.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/linux390/documentat ion-2.4.19-may2002.shtml" -----Original Message----- Greetings, I'm a dinosaur, becoming a penguin, and struggling though the transformation of course. I've got the SuSE SLES-7 download system running on an LPAR, doing fine. For the installation process I did DASD in a simple manner - one 3390-3 volume for swap space, one 3390-3 volume for the complete root file system. These are using /dev/dasda and /dev/dasdb. I'm trying to figure out how to add a third volume. I haven't been able to figure out (or find) the steps to accomplish it. I can do it if I IPL the installation system from CD. I can "dasdfmt" and "mke2fs" it, and it's defined in /proc/dev/devices. But I can't get my unit associated to /dev/dasdc on my DASD-based system. (This sounds similar to Mr. Whitteridge's current issue "Adding DASD not recognized".) Can someone provide the steps, or suggest where I can find the correct manual or redbook that provides the process. Thanks!!
