For those of you installing linux in an LPAR, I will share the ONE thing
that prevented me from IPLing.

The Root filesystem CANNOT be on a paralell access volume if you are using
an IBM shark dasd box. All the other file systems can be on PAV, but for
whatever reason, Suse 7.0 at least, could not IPL on PAV volumes. As soon
as I did the build on a NON-PAV device, life was happy and wonderful. In
that scenario, I went from ram-disk system to IPL'ed Linux in multi-user
mode in about 2 hours.
