Dirk,

The error message is saying that the system couldn't find the ramdisk you
specified as your root file system.  At the beginning of the IPL, the system
should have echoed the contents of your parmfile, \tapes\PARMFILE.EBC.  What
did that show?

The fact that Hercules is finding the kernel is encouraging, but I don't
understand why it's not finding the INITRD file.  Make sure it exists and is
in the correct location.
