I have tried using the "Auto" detect feature, and got stung big time... when the system goes down the machine that you used "Auto" will grab the FIRST PORT AVAILABLE, so it can make your other systems go bonkers with IP access.... since the device that they expect to acquire is now taken !! use the explicit address, it is much safer....

Upper and lower case gets the same result, also I have used specific device addresses as well as auto. If anyone adds another OSA to your LPAR without telling you, you may end up with the wrong one. It might be safer to give the triple of device numbers explicitly at the "Enter the device addresses" prompt instead of letting it autodetect. --Malcolm -- Malcolm Beattie <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Linux Technical Consultant IBM EMEA Enterprise Server Group... ...from home, speaking only for myself
