Adam, This looks similar to a problem someone else (Gordon Wolfe?) was having a while ago. Is the file system on the minidisk you're accessing mounted R/W on another system? If so, it's marked as being dirty. If you make sure the file system is only mounted R/O by all systems accessing it, this problem may go away.
