That depends on what Linux distribution you're using.  If SuSE, you should
use YaST to make sure the network device is configured:
yast->System administration->Network configuration->Network base
configuration

If Red Hat, there should be a file named
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 that contains the information.

I've configured my OSA card and all is working fine except for one minor
problem:
After IPLing I must execute 'ifconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' in order to configure the network interface.
My question is how do I make this happen at IPL time?
