Mark - I don't fill up my root volume because sometimes a full root can
cause problems. What the script does is write zero blocks until the pack is
full, then removes the file, leaving the compressed blocks on the RVA. This
approach will "reclaim space" on a partially full volume that has expanded,
then contracted. It really has to be run on as many volumes as possible to
get a significant amount of space back.

I make it a policy to format the volumes on the RVA when a volume is
returned to me by a user, just to make sure the space is clean (assuming
you have users that return volumes once in a while :-).

The only remedy I know of if the box goes autistic is to remove some of the
volumes, hence losing data, and freeing up space. So I would monitor the
RVA frequently as the automatic tools don't know about Linux.
