Its nearly 2003 and that can mean only one thing......SHARE-time is
nearly upon us!!!

Yes, in case you have guessed it, this is your bi-annual, arm-twisting note
to recruit volunteers to chair sessions at the upcoming SHARE conference in
Dallas. For the "new to the list" folks who may not have heard of SHARE,
its a conference held twice a year to provide education and exchange
information about IBM technology. Take a look at their web site,
www.share.org for more information.

SHARE is a volunteer organzation. The speakers are from a wide range of
industries and the people who run the various programs are unpaid....OK, we
do get a lunch....

The VM and Linux Program is dedicated to bringing the latest information
about both the z/VM and Linux operating systems to conference attendees. Many
of the people who contribute to this list are speakers. However, we also
need help in other areas, such as session chairpersons. This is a "low impact"
job which is easy to do and provides a great way of getting more involved
without making a long term committment. (I know people love that phrase...%-))

All you need to do to sign up is send me your name and the sessions that
you would like to chair. We will provide you with all the information you
need. There will be a brief meeting at the beginning of SHARE to give you
the stickers, etc. The duties of a session chair are
simple, mainly keeping track that the speaker does not run long, that
people have a seat, and that there are enough handouts. In exchange, you
will be guarenteed a great seat at the session and the undying gratitude
of the program organizers.

In addition, for those volunteering early, there is a lovely picture of
Chance Zimelis. If you volunteer before January 6, you will be eligable
to will free snow shoveling for the rest of the winter...courtesy of Rick
Barlow and Sons. (We will substitute water pumping for those of you south
of the snow belt.) The special grand prize will be a first-edition,
signed by the author copy of "Gnorman's Travels" by Neale Ferguson. So don't
delay, volunteer now!

The following is a list of sessions that are available. Details on what
each session is about can be found at www.share.org.
