Vic,

Yes, you can do it that way. Most of the systems I work on don't have that
available, so it's not something that immediate comes to mind for me. I
probably should have been more clear that I was suggesting not trying to get
WS_FTP to work to do the upload, rather than advocating pull versus push. I
love WS_FTP myself, but there are a number of things I don't use it for.

It *should* also be possible to do this from the client if the FTP service
machine is running on VM, as long as the client supports the SITE command.
The syntax should be the same as the LOCSITE commands documented in the
Redbook Mark refers to.

Doing it this way, your FTP logon would be the ID and password of the
guest you wish to send the files to. By default, files you transfer to VM
would be filemode A.

I mention this because I've used it in the past to transfer files to an
MVS system, where running the client on MVS was not an option (because
running the server on another platform -- Windows -- was not an option).
Ralph might be in a similar situation. MVS FTP server supported the SITE
command, and as we all know there's nothing good that MVS can do that VM
can't ;-)

Cheers,
Vic
