We are having our 'shark' box replaced with a similar model because it
keeps killing drives. IBM has replaced almost 30 disks on the thing since
we bought it. They don't want us to have it in the field as it's some how
wonky. So they're giving us a new one, and hauling our old one back to the
lab.

When I first built this one Linux LPAR (SuSE 7.0) I didn't know about CDL.
So I used the standard Linux layout.

We are unsure whether or not the tool IBM will use can cop non CDL Linux
volumes at all.

My thought was to re-configure the LPAR with the dasd addresses of the new
disk as well as the current disk and just use dd, ( I think?) to copy the
volumes and do whatever is necessary with silo to make it so I can IPL from
the new DASD.

Is there a way to make the new file system CDL and still copy the whole
system and make it IPL-able? Is there a way to convert the existing FS to
CDL without reformatting?
