> IBM: Linux will replace AIX Actualy _all_ of IBM's UNIXes, including z/OS USS. If you think about the unification of the eServer brand and its homogenisation via the autonomic computing initiative, it's quite logical. What interested me more was the story that Microsoft is hiring 1,500 sales people: http://www.wininsider.com/news/comments.aspx?mid=3368 My bet is that this will not change the long-term server software revenue trend at Microsoft. It's a measure intended to compensate for the increasing sales challenge presented by Linux. Even where Microsoft still manages to beat Linux, they're having to expend more and more resources to do so. Sending a salesman to an account where they used to just send an order form is actually quite a lot more expensive - a sales visit costs of the order of $400 or so. -- Phil Payne http://www.isham-research.com +44 7785 302 803 +49 173 6242039
