I finally went out to our data center, and IPL'd Linux from tape. I have actually
several questions, now that Linux is up and running. I loaded the Marist College S390
distribution, which I know is a 2.2 Kernel, and way behind. I'm planning to download
the current free Redhat from the Redhat or a mirror site, but I thought as long as I
had downloaded the Marist one, I'll see what it does.

I get the following messages for dasd from addresses 0A4F - 0A6C:

SensID: device 0A4F reports: CU Type/Mod = 3390/E9, DevType/Mod=3390/0A

1. Why do I get all of these? I thought it only looked at dasd in the range givin in
the Parmline file. Parmline says

dasd=A40-A47

When I issue the cat /proc/dasd/devices command, it shous only dasd at 0A40-0A47,
like it should.

2. Does anyone know how to slow down the cursor movement on the Hardware Console on
an MP3000 H50? When I move the cursor, it usually goes too far too fast. I know how
to change that on my PC, but how do you change it on the MP3000? I looked through
many screens, and didn't see anything that looked like I could change it.

3. I issued the command cat /proc/cpu and it says I have 156.87 bogomips.
What's a bogomip?

4. Is there any book online or elseware that lists all of the Linux messages, and
what they mean, or are the messages undocumented because they are so self explanatory?
(Sarcasm intended). It would sure be nice to have message numbers, but I guess I'll
have to learn to live with it.

Thanks. Time to eat lunch now, then I'll go fool around some more with my new toy.
