On SLES 8 I am trying to get the command line mail program (/bin/mail) to send mail to a different machine running sendmail. From what I'm reading this type of configuration is called a null client, it simply routes the email to another server instead of having a local copy of sendmail running.
With all that I've tried so far, the mail program insists on trying to contact the local server: bbpri2:/etc/sysconfig # mail -v -s Testing [EMAIL PROTECTED] Just testing... . EOT [EMAIL PROTECTED] Connecting to localhost.corporate.domain.com. via relay... [EMAIL PROTECTED] Deferred: Connection refused by localhost.corporate.domain.com. I have the nullclient parameter in /etc/sysconfig/sendmail set to the name of the machine running sendmail. I did run SuSEconfig to update the configuration files. It almost looks like I need a way to configure the mail program to talk the other server. I can not see any configuration parameters for mail.rc that reference a remote server. Any tips would be appreciated... -- Rich Smrcina Sr. Systems Engineer Sytek Services, A Division of DSG Milwaukee, WI [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Catch the WAVV!
