The Linux "print spool language" is Postscript, and then this is converted
to whatever printer language is needed for the particular printer by the
spooling system. But you do not need to know that, as the Java printing
code will do it all for you. Just follow the normal Java java.awt.PrintJob
mechanisms.

Personally I use CUPS as my spooler, but I am not sure whether this is
ported to S390 yet (I can't think of any particular reason why it should
not be, but its worth checking it is in the distribution you are using).
It has quite a civilised configuration UI, at least compared to hand
crafting LPR's tables.

Hello,

I would like to print from Java (api) to a PCL remote printer. Is there
a way to do that on Linux S/390 ?

It seems that it should be possible with FOP, does anybody know where I
can found some information ?

Thanks in advance for your help.
