I've looked at that, but I'm not sure that this will help me because the doc does not tell me exactly what I should be copying, and it seems that it wants me to point to another DASD. My background is not z/VM, so some of this is not clicking well. I've tried a couple of things that seems to not be working. Looked at the "Cloning Linux Images in z/VM" and the "Building Linux Systems under IBM VM". Both seemed to not answer what I'm looking for. I guess I need something a lot more basic - a walkthrough, if you will. I'm not finding anything.

Lemarr, Check out the ISP/ASP Redbook. They covered cloning in a fair amount of detail there. Mark Post -----Original Message----- From: Ketchens, LeMarr T. (RyTull) Sent: Tuesday, March 18, 2003 12:25 PM To: 'Linux on 390 Port' Subject: RE: qeth and hipersocket I have been trying clone my current Linux Master to create another Linux Guest Machine. I have read some different approaches, but I haven't been able to implement much of anything. Does anyone have a best practiced way to clone a Linux Guest? I know it shouldn't take long. Any redbooks or best practiced thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Also, we are not practicing what has been pointed out in some of the books I've read, where the Master or Default is linked to for certain filesystems in R/O mode. I would like to implement something like that, but I don't have the time right now. Just fyi. Thanks in advance. ______________________________ Lemarr T.
