I'll second Mark's recommendation to NOT put up telnet and to use ssh instead. No telling who is running snort on your network. Besides the goodies that Mark mentions, ssh can be configured on both ends so that you don't have to type passwords each time you connect. There is also ssh's cousin - scp - which is easier to use (IMO) than ftp and secure to boot. Forget about telnet. You don't need it, and it can only cause you grief. -- David Andrews A.
