We are running 2.4.7 kernel with mysql-shared-3.23.37-21 rpm installed. We have a test server and a production server running the same rpm and start-up scripts. On production only mysql start-up fails with a signal 11 error. Subsequently you have to manually start it with the command "safe_mysqld -user=root &" Any ideas why #1 it fails to start, and #2 why it successfully starts with the safe_mysqld command?
