Not yet. Linux cannot IPL from FC attached dasd, either with or without VM.
ESCON or FICON dasd is required to IPL.

Please respond to
Linux on 390 Port
Hi All,
as possibly most of you know, it's possible since some time to
have native FC attachment to a mainframe with Linux/390.
I have some questions about that:
.a) If I run Linux in LPAR-mode without VM, is it possible to
boot from FC attached DASD (so no need for Escon/Ficon channels on
the Z800) ?
b) If I run Linux under VM, is it possible to boot a Linux guest
from a FC attached DASD (dedicated DASD?) ?
c) Where can I find info about FC-support on mainframes on the Web
(e.g. Redbook, IOCP-defs) ?
Thanks for any help, Herbert
