We decided to try to let a linux SLES8 guest share the OSA adapter with VM using QDIO. We thought things were fine, then discovered we can't ftp out to class A or Class C addresses. Class B are fine. Now we find we've been the cause of the other servers at the company getting flooded with messages: vmunix: arp: illegal IP address 255.255.255.255 is used by hardware address ... where the hardware address is the MAC address of our OSA adapter. We have no problem with SLES7 using the OSA. We have no problem with SLES8 going through CTC to VM with ARP PROXY. We probably have to go back to letting VM handle the IP traffic for the SLES8 guests since we are impacting the other servers. Has anyone else encountered this?
