I know at least one of our engineers does this with his laptop.  It
seems to work OK for him.

I wouldn't do it on an S/390 unless I had hardware crypto acceleration,
for sure.  And probably not even then, because I think in the S/390
world you can assume a much higher degree of physical security for the
system and DASD than you can with, say, a laptop.
