Stefan,

I would have used "rpm -Fvh *" instead. That will only install updates for
packages that are already installed. What you did was install all of the
RPMs in the current directory, whether a previous version was installed or
not.

I've never used YaST2, so I can't help you with that part of the question.

Subject: Update with rpm-files

Hello everybody,
it's time for updates which i've done with yast1 under sles7 -no problems.
But SLES8-yast2 (with the new style) is very crazy. I've downloaded all
updated packages, but how can I manage them with yast2? With yast1 I can
select the
directory with the new RPM-files and he shows me all packages I've installed
an gives me the option to select them for an update, but in yast2 I have to
configure different install-sources first. When I try to select the
directory
with the new packages, yast2 blubbers :
ERROR(InstSrc:E_no_instsrc_on_media). I have no Update-CD, I have a bunch of
updated rpm-files.
I've tried "rpm -Uhv *", it works but looks a little bit messy. Is it okay?
How do you handle this?
Thank you for all suggestions.
