An ldl has no vtoc and the partition starts right after the label record
and occupies the remainder of the disk.  The cdl partitions use fmt1 dscbs
and their sizes and locations are defined by DS1EXT1, the first extent
descriptor.  Are you saying that the DS1LSTAR field should also be set?  It
seems largely ignored.
