Maybe it should, but in the top-level directory: debian:/devel/kernel/linux-2.4.21-plus# make zimage make: *** No rule to make target `zimage'. Stop. Which is why I'm wondering what the incantation to turn vmlinux into vmlinuz by hand is. Or maybe I'm asking the wrong question, and what I really should be asking is "why can't I IPL the vmlinux that 'make boot' produces, but I can IPL the vmlinuz that 'make-kpkg buildpackage' produces?"
