A full dump (if you included cyl 0 and all in the dump) should clip the
volume label and rewrite everything on the volume, including any IPL
records.

Unless I'm totally missing the point, if you're restoring under VM, just
restore the volumes and attach them to the virtual machine at the usual
address and it should just work, eg:

if your Linux virtual machine name is FOO, the "normal" DASD address in your
LPAR is B213, and the volume you have is 7873, do

ATTACH 7873 FOO B213

repeat for all the other volumes, and IPL B213 CLEAR.  Linux can't tell the
difference.
