I had a lot of success defining the entire disk as swap device (e.g.
dasda) when the root file system was on the first partition (dasda1).
With the partition layout gone the block numbers don't match either so
fsck got nowhere. I suppose I should have tried to make a new partition
but no filesystem and see if fsck gets it back.
