Not 10 minutes ago, I updated one of our systems to SP3 using Online Update. Earlier, I had used the SP3 CDs on another. (I tried both just to check if there were problems that you had described.) So I don't know where the problem lays except I think SUSE is in the clear.
I think you were going from GA level. I think you may need to grab some Yast updates manually from the SUSE support site. These addressed problems with Online Update. If you search the List archives from early last year you'll find the reference. Neale -----Original Message----- Well I'm starting to lose patience with the entire PS process from SuSE. Based on the previous comments that SP3 had corrup RPM packages in it, I thought I would try SP2. So I downloaded the iso file and created a CD from the iso image. When I try to issue the following command I get exactly the same error as I did with SP3. rpm -Uhv yast2-ncurses-2.6.24-7.s390.rpm yast2-online-update-2.6.15-9.s390.rpm yast2-packagemanager-2.6.49-0.s390.rpm and the error is yast2-ncurses rpm: rpmio.c:177: fdGetFp: Assertion `fd && fd->magic == 0xbeefdead' failed. Aborted Anybody have any idea what might be going on, and how to get the SP's installed?
