CUPS makes this pretty easy. Here's one way:
1) Install a fairly recent (at least 1.1.9) version of CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) on your Linux box and make sure you have a PPD file for your printer. PPD files describe the capabilities of the printer in a nice compact way, and most printer manufacurers provide them for use with Adobe products. 2) If the destination machine is Win2K or higher, then add the Windows feature "Unix Printing Support" via the usual means (add/remove programs), share the printer using the normal Windows methods, and use the CUPS LPR support to print to it. If you are using an earlier version of Windows, use the CUPS SMB support. Follow the prompts. 3) Print to your heart's content. -- db ----- Original Message ----- From: "Noll, Ralph" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, January 27, 2004 2:33 PM Subject: Linux desktop > Ok i have my linux desktop up and running... > > can get to window's folders, linux folders,,,all ok there > thanks everyone for your help.. > > now i forgot about printing... > > how do i setup, get to a netowrk printer (windows of course) > or my oke desktop's printer.. > > thanks > > > Ralph >
