Hello, everyone. I've cross-posted this message to both the LINUX-390 and VMESA lists.
I was wondering what the status is for PAV support for VM. Searching the archives of both mailing lists has indicated that there is currently no PAV support for VM, nor does there appear to be any in the works. Why is this? If my research is correct, PAV support does exist for linux-390, but only for dedicated volumes. Precluding the use of minidisks seriously hobbles our flexibility in creating small linux guests and amounts to an untenable proposition. In my simple view, the refusal to implement PAV under VM amounts to limiting a V12 engine to 45 mph. Is there a technical restriction preventing the implementation of PAV under VM or is it currently being worked on?
