We are about to begin migrating our guests to SLES 8, which we do have support for. We are still in the learning phases with SUSE, however, and were looking for possible relief from a looping user problem until we can begin the migration. A previous poster mentioned that they had experienced greater stability in their images after upgrading to 2.4.24. They described a situation where a guest simply stopped responding and required a reboot to become functional again. We have also been seeing this behavior, and it's worsened lately. We can see that, at random times, one or another of our guests will begin eating cpu and stops responding to commands. I was hoping that the new kernel might alleviate this problem. This brings up another question: is anyone else experiencing this issue? I had written of a network latency bug that we were suffering from (network throughput would drop off until the qeth mods were reloaded...we were able to determine that an image was suffering from the problem by issuing a q v osa and looking at the adp value of the first output queue. A consistent value greater than zero indicated that the interface was munged). We have since migrated to a new z800 and found that our latency problems have almost disappeared, but our images now go into loops. -- Michael Lambert <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
