While you could change USER DIRECT by using NFS, you would have to use rexec or set up a server that responds to HCP MSG (for example) to trigger a CMS guest to run DIRECTXA. Needless to say, you can't run CMS binaries (e.g. MODULEs) in Linux. If you have z/VM 4.4, with its System Management API (SMAPI), you could write RPC programs in Linux (or any other platform) that will cause the directory to be updated. It requires that you also license DirMaint or some other directory management program that supports SMAPI. Alan Altmark Sr. Software Engineer IBM z/VM Development
